Selous Wilderness Camp is situated on the banks of the Rufiji River, on the unspoilt, so called, “Rufiji island”. We can be reached by road from Dar Es Salaam after a five hour drive or a short plane trip landing at Mtemwere airstrip. From Mtemwere airstrip you will be received by a representative and transported to the camp.
Here your journey begins by crossing the river and following the call of your welcoming… beating drums, majestic swaying fronds of borassus palms, dense riparian forest and our friendly staff. The camp is designed for you to have the best of both worlds, to be part of the wild whilst enjoying comfort and service within the makuti cladded tents and many relaxation areas.
Safari, safari, safari… skilled field guides will take you on daily excursions like game drives, boat safaris, walking safaris, sunset cruises and cultural village tours. Your experience here is our pleasure.
social responsibility
More than 70% unskilled staff members were taken from the neighbouring community, which were trained for a skilled camp position. Beers, sodas, fruit and vegetables are being sourced from the local village as far as possible. Selous wilderness camp is also setting up a clinic in the local village with co-operation of a Dutch NGO.
